Clinical Supervision

WHAT TO EXPECT

Supervision is designed to enhance the professional functioning of the Supervisee by assisting him/her with the quality of professional counseling services and improving his/her case conceptualization skills, professional identity, personal development, and counseling skills.

Supervision will include discussions of Supervisee change and the process of learning through experience.  An essential element of supervision that will facilitate growth is openness between the Supervisor and Supervisee.  This will be important as we work together, and it is essential as  the Supervisee is working through anxieties, acquiring skills, developing his/her own approach, becoming aware of his/her own strengths and weaknesses, and working with clients to help them meet therapeutic treatment goals.  The Supervisee is expected to discuss any feelings, ethical dilemmas, and issues with the Supervisor.   It is my goal to provide the necessary supports to assist the Supervisee with working through any discomfort, dilemmas, and issues.

SERVICES

  • Individual Therapy

A joint process through which individuals work one-on-one with a counselor in a safe, confidential and caring environment. Individual therapy allows individuals to explore their feelings, beliefs, and behaviors, work through challenges, set personal goals and work towards desired psychological and behavior change.

  • Family Therapy

Involves one or more members of a nuclear or extended family. The focus of therapy is to improve interrelationships and promote psychological/behavioral change within the family system.

  • Group Therapy

Group therapy attempts to give individuals a safe and comfortable place where they can work through life's stressors. Individual group members gain insight into their own thoughts and behaviors and offer suggestions and support to others. In addition, members who have difficulty with interpersonal relationships can benefit from the social interactions that are an essential part of the group therapy experience.

  • Clinical Supervision

A formal working alliance between a licensed supervisor and supervisee in which the supervisor monitors the performance of the supervisee. The supervisor offers guidance and support to the supervisee with aims of improving supervisee's clinical skills and ensuring client welfare.
